Constance Welch received her B.L. and B.S. degrees in 1922, and an M.A., 1924, from Northwestern University. She joined the Department of Drama faculty in 1929 as an instructor in diction. She later was an assistant professor, 1932-1938, and associate professor, 1938-1967, of play production, and from 1939 to 1967 was head of the acting department which she founded.
